Are you celebrating Mardi Gras with your students and looking for Mardi Gras for Kids videos? Being from Louisiana, I always loved teaching about and celebrating Mardi Gras with my students. Most of my teaching career was in Colorado, so many of my students didn’t know about this exciting holiday.
Mardi Gras Lesson for Kids
I always started the day out by explaining what Mardi Gras is and how people celebrate it, and I shared some pictures of beautiful floats in parades. During the day, I also read a cute book about Mardi Gras (see picture below) and showed a video or two about this special holiday. At the end of the day I surprised them with King Cake and we made a Mardi Gras mask. My students and I always enjoyed this fun day! Check out the great teacher approved videos below. If you are looking for a complete lesson on Mardi Gras, scroll down to the bottom. We have a digital slideshow, student book, and printables to help you make this day complete!
Teacher Approved Videos
This is a great Mardi Gras video for kids. This PBS Kids video is short and tells about Mardi Gras and why and how people celebrate it.
This video goes over the history of Mardi Gras for kids, where it is celebrated and even talks about the delicious king cake people eat during this time.
Mardi Gras Children’s Songs
The next two videos are teacher and kid approved Mardi Gras songs. Your students will be singing and dancing along with these fun songs!
